The first ride out of the year saw nine bikes turn up on a cold, murky morning. Ian C had arranged to meet our new associate Mark at Swaffham so we split into 2 groups of 4. With Paul S leading one group. The planned route was A10 to Southery then branch off to Feltwell and then onto Mundford and our destination. Paul had different ideas though and ended up at Marham, he later admitted that he thought our destination was elsewhere, he never did let on though. The roads were mucky and greasy as they had been treated (is that an oxymoron?) to a liberal coating of salt or whatever eco friendly chemical they use nowadays. On the plus side we didn’t encounter any road closures which seem to be flavour of the month at the moment.
The Baa is a small alfresco wooden shack that sells various non-alcoholic beverages and savoury snacks. The café is situated in an ideal place for dog walkers, bird watchers and anyone with an interest in the countryside. Located on the edge of Lynford Arboretum and Lynford Lakes, there are great walks around and even a dog agility course. There is ample parking. Well normally there is but today it was mobbed to the extent that several circuits of the car park were necessary to find a suitable place to park the bikes.
On arrival we were met by Mel and Karen and their dog Harvey and a very convivial hour or so was spent drinking hot beverages and catching up since our last meeting. Ian introduced Mark to the group and even though he was on a GS he was warmly welcomed.
After about an hour we departed to our various destinations leaving the afternoon free to clean the bike and of course watch the footy.
The next ride out is in a fortnight to Bressingham. I hope to see you there.
Stay safe
